Having performed thousands of surgeries and operations, we understand your concerns and know you are probably a bit nervous. You can rest assured you are in great hands here at Center For Sight and will receive treatment from an experienced surgeon along side caring, personable and supportive staff members. We have surgery coordinators here to answer any questions you may have along the way.
After having your cataract evaluation with one of our doctors, you will be directed to our surgery department to schedule your surgery. They will discuss with you the process of scheduling, surgery medications, per-operative care, post-operative care and surgery guidelines. If you have any questions along the way we encourage you to contact our surgical department so they may address your concerns and answer your questions.
Here are some common questions and answers that you may have regarding the surgery process:
What time is my surgery?
-We will contact you the day prior to your surgery to inform you of what time to arrive. We will also let you know if you need to stop any medications and remind you to bring a driver.
Prescription Eye Drops
-Your doctor will prescribe eye drops that you need to use prior to surgery. You will be instructed when and how often to administer the drops. After your surgery you will receive a new list from the surgery department on how often drops should be administered after the procedure.
Will I be in pain?
-You should experience little to no pain and be able to return home following the procedure. If you are experiencing mild pain you may take Tylenol. The day of surgery you may experience a “gritty” sensation along with blurred vision. These are normal side affects. It is crucial you avoid rubbing your eyes and we recommend resting for the remainder of the day following your procedure. If you feeling any pain that Tylenol can’t take care of, contact one of our surgical coordinators immediately.
What are my restrictions following surgery?
-The following day you will be seen for a 1 day post op. At this appointment our physician will discuss any questions and review your drop regiments with you. For two weeks we ask you to avoid bending, lifting, stooping or any strenuous activities until your physician gives you the okay.
