Anyone with eyesight problems knows the importance of finding an experienced medical group that specializes in ophthalmology. The Center For Sight meets this need by offering our patients state of the art technology and procedures, in combination with the most experienced eye care team in Northern New York. Our physicians have over 175 years of combined experience and have performed over 40,000 surgeries.
In our completely equipped ophthalmic examination rooms, a specially trained ophthalmic technician will obtain a medical and ocular history. Your distance and near vision will be tested, and your eye pressure will be measured to test for glaucoma. In most cases you will be given drops to dilate your pupils. Dilating drops take approximately 30 minutes to fully dilate your pupils. Dilation allows our physicians to evaluate your eyes for retinal and optic nerve diseases, as well as cataracts.
You can expect to receive a thorough eye examination when coming to Center For Sight. You should plan on being here approximately an hour or longer if testing or a special procedure is required. We preform the most up-to-date diagnostic testing, including ophthalmic photography, visual fields, cataract and dry eye evaluations.
Your eyes will be sensitive to light for several hours after your exam, and your near vision may be blurry due to the dilation drops. Center For Sight provides disposable sunglasses at check out for your convenience if you should need them.
Because our physicians take on walk-in’s and emergencies, our schedule can be interrupted by patients referred for immediate care. We apologize for any interruptions and will do our best to see all patients in a timely manner.
